Research & Development

Research and Innovation Groups (RIGs)

The National College has identified a number of ways in which Teaching Schools can engage in, and promote, research and development.

  • undertaking research and development projects locally to identify and/or help tackle key school improvement priorities
  • participation in the national research and development themes projects for 2015-16:
  • what makes great pedagogy? – what makes great professional development which leads to consistently great pedagogy?

Swindon RIGs.

In Swindon we have also funded the establishment of a number of Research and Innovation Groups – RIGs.

RIGs are networks of teachers with a shared interest in exploring innovations and research in their subject areas with a view to disseminating good practice across local schools. They are also keen to engage in new research opportunities and studies for their own professional development and to be at the forefront of pedagogical advancements. The RIGs are led by Swindon practitioners for Swindon practitioners.
